ADOPTION

If you have the financial ability to support a child, are twenty-one years or over, and can provide a safe and healthy home environment for the child, you may be able to adopt a child in Louisiana. Louisiana law provides for several types of adoptions: intrafamily adoption, private adoption, adoption through an agency, and notarial adoptions. Each type of adoption is governed by its own set of laws found in the Louisiana Children’s Code.
