Generally, assault and battery charges are prosecuted aggressively. There are several levels of assault and battery, from simple assault to aggravated battery. Assault is the threat of bodily harm while battery is the actual contact or unwanted touching of another without consent. Aggravated assault is assault with a deadly weapon. Any number of physical objects can be construed as a deadly weapon.
